Giving up often seems like the easier path, especially for those with chronic illness. It's simpler to abandon a habit than it is to cultivate a new one, particularly when faced with the daily challenges of managing health conditions. However, it's vital to keep sight of your ultimate goals.
Living with chronic illness means navigating a constant stream of distractions. How many of us with chronic conditions can relate to prioritizing anything but our health goals and daily tasks? As the day progresses, eight hours slip away, leaving us with regret for not tending to our well-being. Despite the allure of taking the easier route, it's crucial to resist and stay committed to our health objectives.
When we stay committed and show heaps of resilience, we not only rock our physical health but we are also winning in the mental health department. We're talking lower levels of the blues, anxiety, and stress and this is the ultimate goal (Lamond, 2010).
My daily routine serves as my anchor, providing structure and stability to my life. I've intentionally shifted my wake-up time earlier to carve out moments for activities that bring me joy and fulfillment. Engaging in wellness practices before diving into my day job allows me to cultivate a sense of peace and mental clarity.
I've noticed a significant transformation in my mindset and interactions with others when I neglect to prioritize self-care. This realization serves as a powerful motivator, driving me to consistently show up for my morning workouts, nourish my body with healthier food choices to sustain my energy levels throughout long days and engage in spiritual practices to confront and overcome any negative thoughts that may hinder my progress.

It is easy to resist challenges, as motivated as we may feel to achieve them- it is difficult to stay focused on the task when we don’t see immediate results. There is so much joy with instant gratifications- hence why we love Amazon Prime but get upset if the package is 2 days behind schedule. When it comes to mental and physical health- it’s important to have an end goal in mind, but also to celebrate each day by simply showing up for yourself.
Build your Confidence by Committing to the Task you set for Yourself
The correlation between confidence and staying true to your goals lies in the belief and trust you have in yourself. Confidence empowers you to overcome self-doubt and external challenges, enabling you to persevere through difficulties and remain aligned with your aspirations.
